Be still my heart, Halloween goodies are arriving! And even better, it's our second favorite little girl, Madeline! Madeline's Halloween & Other Spooky Tales contains five tales inspired by the book series: the title story "Madeline's Halloween", "Madeline and the Mean, Nasty, Horrible Hats", "Madeline and The Mummy", "Madeline And the Haunted Castle" (you probably guessed, this was our favorite one!), and "Madeline And the Spider Lady".
Let's get down to the nitty gritty: When you hear Halloween and kids movies, your first question is "Is this going to be too scary for my toddler/preschooler?" The answer to this one is no - while there are a few little moments of suspense, it's much the same as any episode in the Madeline series. In the title episode, "Madeline's Halloween", the girls go to New York to visit their pen pals, and learn about the Halloween celebrations (as well as some cultural differences). In "Madeline and the Spider Lady", Madeline and the girls accidentally end up on the air and cause pandemonium in NYC with their story of attacking purple ants with green polka dots. LOL
I dare you not to walk away from this DVD singing the "Trick or Treat" song yourself! All five of the episodes included are new to DVD, so they won't on your overlap Madeline collection.
Madeline's Halloween & Other Spooky Tales will be released on Tuesday, August 17th, 2010. It's full screen edition, with no bonus features, and the total running time is 110 minutes long. It's rated G and safe for all ages. The suggested retail price is $12.99, although Amazon has it a little cheaper as of this posting.
I received a copy of this DVD to view in order to write a review.
