Review & Giveaway: Scentsy

I love candles! I always used to burn one when I was relaxing in the evenings, until a tiny tornado terror and a couple of extra cats came into my life. ;) I've lived in fear of an accidental fire starting in here, so it's become a much rarer occurrence these days. Sigh! The best thing about candles, beside the relaxing flame, is the smell! No other air freshener can come close to the smell of a candle - not to mention the fact that there are so many different scents to choose from out there!


So when I first heard of Scentsy, I thought - oh, that's interesting! - and was absolutely delighted when Cheryl contacted me about Scentsy. Just in case you're not familiar with it, Scentsy is a wickless candle wax burner - so no open flames to catch anything on fire (do take care not to have anything near it though that could catch on fire from the light bulb, just in case Murphy's Law strikes!). It burns wax just like a candle, so the same room filling scents can be had! Because it uses a low watt lightbulb, you can leave it on as long as you want, and it's not any more expensive to have on than a regular nightlight. Since it uses small "cubes" of wax, it's also easy to use, and one cube really lasts a long time, so it's not expensive with this part, either.

Cheryl let me choose which Plug In Warmer I wanted, so I chose the Groovy Black. Here's the picture from the website:

I also was able to choose which Scentsy Bars I wanted to try, so I choose Black Raspberry Vanilla, Clove and Cinnamon, and the Cranberry Spice bars.


By the way, I want to say I was totally impressed with how the wax bars were sent to me - they were in this nifty Ziploc style cooler bag that was made especially for shipping in hot weather, so my bars arrived to me perfectly, even in this hotter weather we've had throughout the country! I was afraid maybe that they might have melted a little, but there was no reason to have that fear!

I tried the Cranberry Spice first. It was easy to break one of the cubes off and place it in the warmer:


and it didn't take long before my house was smelling yummy! It made me want to bake for the holidays! LOL It melted for at least 6 hours, and I ended up bringing it into the bedroom and using it to make our bedroom smell nice before bedtime too. (A small warning: do be careful that the outlet you use is one higher up or out of the way so that kids and husbands don't knock wax all over your floor or counters)

And the Black Raspberry Vanilla? I am in love! Apparently, it is one of the most popular scents right now, and I can totally see why! I'm enjoying it as I type!
