I hereby solemnly swear that I will NEVER make you follow me anywhere to enter the giveaways I host here. I know how annoying it is, and I'd rather you follow my blog because you like my blog, than be forced to because you'd really like to win one of my prizes. Sure, I'll give you an extra entry into most giveaways - just because you put up with my whining and leave me comments on other posts sometimes. ;)
On the VERY RARE chance that a giveaway I host asks (OK, forces) you to follow on Facebook, Twitter, Tweet, etc in order to enter - that's the sponsor asking that it's done, not me. I don't like it anymore than a lot of you do - I think it's an unfair advantage since not everyone uses every social media out there. :(
And on this subject - I promise I will NEVER make you type out/cut and copy multiple extra entries for one entry - there will be NO get 10 entries if you follow me, 20 if you blog about it 500, if you promise me your firstborn - geez, even I'm tired of typing them out when I enter contests on other blogs, and I don't even enter that many! I can only imagine how many entries some of you are stuck typing out! It doesn't benefit anyone, except artificially inflate how many entries there really are. (boo!)

I don't tweet and I wonder if those persons out their tweeting really believe anyone is reading the tweets that they do tweet every hour to get entries into a giveaway. I kind of think not.
I'm with you, it probably does just inflate the entry numbers to the sponsors. Yet, some sponsors reps probably want those high numbers to show to their bosses.
I do, do the extra stuff on items I would truly love to win, but I'm not jumping through the hoops on the ones I don't. That doesn't keep me from commenting some of the times on non-giveaway posts at blogs I visit though.
Yet, if you spend a lot of time jumping through the hoops to win, it leaves you less time to comment on non-giveaway posts, because everyone only has so many free minutes or hours in any given day.
I agree, and leaving a million comments to do it seems kind of pointless, though I understand how it makes it easier to draw. Also, my pet peeve is when I can't do an email subscription to a blog I like. I do click GFC when I see it, and other network connect things, but for day to day reading and following, I prefer to get updates in my email;)
Thanks, Storm. That's one reason I like your blog. I don't do Facebook or Tweet. I decided to draw the line there. I don't have a blog either, so that cuts me out of a lot of extra entries. I looked at a list of winners on one blog the other day and realized two different women won four times each in a set of about 10 or so giveaways grouped together in a theme. I had to admit to myself that I'll never be able to compete with people who manage a couple dozen entries. May as well read for fun. Keep it up.

LOL! :claps: I do ask folks to follow but I do not give them 10 entries, just one entry. Most of the time I ask them to follow it is because of the companies. My only mandatory entry is that they subscribe. Everything else is for an extra entry. I also planned on cutting some of that out because it annoyed the crap out of me when people did it to me. I'm glad you posted this.
Actually it's against FB's rules to have liking a FB page for a mandatory entry a big NONO.
Like one of the ladies said if I like the giveaway a lot then I'll do some jumping if not I don't bother.

Storm you have the right idea. There were a couple of giveaways I wanted to join but then looked and you had to jump through hoops to join it. No Thank You.
I visit your blog everyday and enter giveaways that I want. Some people enter all of them. I like to share.
Yeah I don't enter giveaways if you have to MANDATORY follow the blog.

I have lots of giveaways and do have a lot of extra entries that people can do. However, I will never require that anyone follow me to enter. If they like my blog, they'll follow anyway. There are some giveaways I enter where following is mandatory but I'm much more likely to just skip that blog and not even enter.
As for + a trillion for subscribing, tweeting, etc. I think that's insane. All it does is inflate giveaway numbers.
I'd like to think that I give a fair chance to everyone who wants to win on my giveaways, but then again I could be doing it wrong.
