The Winner of Storm's Point And Shoot Debate...

For those wondering, I know I took forever with deciding on a point and shoot camera. I have issues, lol.

Nothing speaks to me. I've held multiple brands, styles, etc in my hands, and nothing says Storm... you know you want me. I wasn't even looking at price any more - of course, I wanted to stay below $200, but for the right camera, I don't care. I see too many flaws, don't like the battery options, buttons aren't where I want it...

I want a DSLR, and I guess that's my problem. I never used to be a point and shoot only kind of gal - my baby is an old school Olympus that is almost as old as me, and a couple of lenses that never used to fail me. We had so much fun together back in the "old days" - you know, when film was the way to go, and even when it wasn't. I haven't shot anything with it since I've been married, mostly because hello, have you seen the price of film? I remember buying black and white, ISO 1600, all the fun films and playing with them...

I want that now. Phooey!

So basically after all that, I ended up playing rock, paper, scissors. I narrowed it down to three - all Canon, of course - and the winner was....

the Canon PowerShot SD780IS, in silver. I see the price has changed a lot since I ordered from Amazon, I guess I should be glad I didn't keep trying to decide. lol

I'm still not keen at all on the idea of the Lithium ion battery, and I don't like that the LCD screen doesn't rotate like my old Canon, but this one seemed to be the better of the three I had narrowed it down too (and the fact that the one I ordered came with a free SDHC memory card helped too). I guess Lithium ion batteries are they way cameras are going - drat.

It's supposed to arrive in the next few days, so I'll let you know what I think.

Just make sure you buy an extra battery because you may need it if you are shooting a lot and it drains. I think they are all going with those batteries now. Ugh.

Happy New Camera!
