Another Emergency Vet Trip

This time for Captain. He started whimpering and crying whenever we would touch his right side, and he couldn't sleep all day, so when DH was leaving work, I asked him to call the vet and see what they said.

Instead of understanding it was an emergency situation, and either A) attempting to squeeze us in or B) suggesting we call a sister clinic or C) head to the emergency clinic in Poulsbo, all we got was "we're too busy and can see you Tuesday at 11."

Excuse me, but when I call about a dog being in pain and unable to rest, I expect an immediate solution. If you're thinking I'm being too harsh, it's not the first time we've had a run in at this clinic with poor customer service - when we went to pick up the Grumpy Princess, the vet couldn't even make time to give us the run down on her tests - and that's just the latest in the few short months we've been going there. I have seven pets currently, any vet makes a tidy sum off of us. I expect more. I understand being booked full, however there are other ways to handle it.

Luckily a clinic here close by saw us right away (I was impressed), and we're home, a lot poorer now, but he's resting and hopefully the medication he is on will do the trick. His x-rays looked great, so that concern is at least put to rest for now - I was really worried that he had hurt himself hiking yesterday through Bandix.

I have a post I've been working on earlier that I'm going to finish up for you, and then this Mamma is going to vegetate. It's been a LONG day.

Oh noes! We hope Captain gets better soon! No pet in pain and unable to sleep should have to wait until next Tuesday to be seen and luckily the other clinic understood this and got him in right away. We'll send purrs and cross paws for him!

I'm a vet tech and we always offer alternatives if we can't fit someone in. It's rude to actually tell someone you're "too busy" to see them. Sorry about your bad experience.
I do want to state that a veterinary office can't always "squeeze" clients in. As much as we want to help all pets, physically it is impossible. There are already appointments that were scheduled to see, surgeries, and the few emergencies we can work in. We'd rather send someone to the emergency clinic if we are full than to fit them into a 5 minute slot that is not fair to the pet, the client, or to us. We want to offer everyone qulaity pet care.
I appreciate you saying that you understand that.
Get well, Captain!
