National Costume Swap Day

October 9th is National Costume Swap Day!

Why am I telling you this now? So you can get involved in your community and help host an event with folks you know!

Did you know that more than half of Halloween and dress up costumes end up in our landfill? I don't know about you, but I think that's absolutely CRAZY! It's waste, and we need to stop wasting! If half of the children who celebrate Halloween would trade their costumes, it would reduce annual landfill waste by 6,250 tons, equivalent to the weight of 2,500 midsize cars. Isn't that amazing?

Even if you don't celebrate Halloween, it's a great chance to fill up your child(ren)'s dress up box, or to get costumes for plays and Church functions. Are you game? I am! To find out more about National Costume Swap Day, and to add your event to their database - as well as some ideas for celebrating a Green Halloween, be sure to check out their Costume Swap webpage. (and if you decide to join in, let me know about your even so I can share it on this post!)
