Review & Giveaway: Gain Dish Washing Liquid

I've been a member of My Blog Spark for nearly two years now. Thanks to them, I've gotten to review some pretty neat products just as they have arrived on the market! The fun part is, you never just know what you might get next... like this:


That's a BIG box you see right there! When I opened it, I was greeted by the sound of applause. See? I am famous! LOL ;)


Seriously though, it was all about the new Gain Dish Washing Liquids. In the talking box was a bottle of the new Gain Dishwashing Liquid in Original scent, a couple of t-shirts, and some $5 Wal-Mart gift cards for me to share with friends so they could purchase their own bottle.

My dishwasher is dying a very painful - and expected death to be honest (it's as old as the house which was built in 1982) - so dishes are washed by hand over here. I used the dishwasher mostly to sterilize my glass jars for canning, and for cleaning glass baking dishes, so it's not that much of a change for me. Because everything is washed by hand though, I expect a lot out of my dishwashing detergent. I have always stayed away from the off brand detergents because I found that I used more to get the same cleaning power out of my 1-2 favorite brands - I'm not saving money if I have to use more, after all. I have a "system" I usually use, and it's worked well for me over the last couple of years.

The Gain Dish Washing Liquid comes in four different scents/varieties: Original (which I received and I'm reviewing), Lavender, Citrus Splash, and Apple Mango Tango.


The Original has a light scent to it, but it's not overpowering. Of course, while scent makes our cleaning expereinces a little more nicer, it's not what matters when you get down to it - what matters is that it cleans!

I'll skip boring you with before and after photos of clean and dirty dishes. ;) I didn't have anything super greasy to clean over the last few days, but Gain Dish Washing Liquid did a good job of getting everything clean that I did have - from a slightly greasy basking sheet, to my crock pot to silverware and plates. It had the right amount of cleaning power - I didn't find myself using a ton of it. I was happy enough with it that if I catch it on sale and I have a coupon, I'll buy it.
