Review & Giveaway: HALO SleepSack Comfort Mesh Wearable Blanket

Here in Washington, it's cold and wet for about oh, 10 months out of the year. Seriously, I just stopped using my fireplace at the end of May! And when it's hot, usually by the time the sun goes down, it's gotten quite a bit cooler. We've always got a heavier blanket on the beds it seems because of that. Add in the fact that our main source of heat is our fireplace in our home, I'm always on the hunt for things that keep us warm.

I recently had the chance to review the HALO SleepSack Comfort Mesh Wearable Blanket . The SleepSacks are wearable sleeveless blankets that help cut down on the chance of SIDS and prevent little ones from kicking off their blankets. They are a really great idea! In fact, my mom was still here when it arrived, and she was wishing these were available when I was little, because I had the habit of kicking off my blanket too. I choose the Comfort Mesh Big Kid's SleepSack Wearable Blanket in pink in a size 2T/3T for our daughter. She's not quite into that size yet, but it's only September, and since 24M is usually about the same size as a 2T in length (the difference is usually the rear - 24M is a little wider than 2T to make up for diaper room), I thought this would be just the right size here soon enough.

Oh boy was I ever wrong!

Um... it's a little big. No scratch that, it's a lot big. It's HUGE! Well, we'll be getting a LOT of use out of it, LOL because she'll be wearing this when she's FIVE! I know it's not like she'll be running around the house in it - it's a blanket to sleep in, and there's supposed to be some extra fabric, so the fact that she looks like a pink Grimus from Ronald McDonald doesn't matter, right? LOL This poor kid, she's going to look back on a photo of her in it and need therapy. LOL



The material is a soft jersey like material - almost like a football or hockey jersey with breathing holes - although since it is jersey, it does pick up some static depending on what they are wearing underneath and how dry the air is (look for static hair, lol) The fabric is a safe flame retardant material too, and the embroidered princess is a sweet touch. The fabric washed well - I washed it several times before trying it on her and after she wore it for a nap.


I like that this is safe for warmer weather with the AC on, and in the cooler winter months. They actually have a fleece fabric one too in this size range, so if you are in a much colder area than we are, that option might be better for your child depending on your heating situation. Now if you are potty training, it is fairly quick to get on and off because of the zipper and the looseness, but remember you'll have another layer on underneath - I suggest that you use two piece long john style pajamas in that case. (be prepared for accidents) The little leg cuffs are great on this size too, so they don't get all tangled in it.

My suggestion from my learning lesson is to purchase a size down from the size you think you need. ;) I also do wish they made more colors - it's currently only available in pink and a royal blue. I'd love to see purple, and maybe a green one for boys in the future for a bit more variety!
