Giveaway: Wendy's Pick 2 Menu

Did you know? Nearly one quarter of meals are eaten out. That's A LOT! If you personally eat out that often, you probably know how hard it is to find healthier alternatives. Of course, not every one eats out that often - but when you do, it can also be hard to make sure you aren't overeating.


Wendy's recently came out with a new promotion: Pick 2. This meal features half size portions of their fresh salads - Apple Pecan Chicken, Baja, Spicy chicken Caesar, and BLT Cobb that can be paired with a Jr Bacon Cheeseburger, small Frosty, small Beverage, Dasani Water, Sour Cream & Chives Baked Potato, or small Chili, for the suggested retail price of $4.99.

As part of their promotion, I and other bloggers were invited to participate in a webinar featuring Dr. Jo Lichten PhD, RD, author of "How To Stay Healthy and Fit On The Road". She had some good tips that I thought I would share with you:

Eat regularly - if you are hungry you will overeat.

Sometimes your thirst is mistaken for hunger. Be sure to drink plenty of water.

Portion control is the key to weight management.

Make small dietary changes that are easy to maintain.

Select restaurants with plenty of options.

Lean protien is more satifsfying than carbs or fats.

Fill up with lots of fiber, and remember that calcium helps build strong bones and lowers blood pressure.

Plenty of foods are good for you, but if they don't taste good, you aren't going to eat them.

These are all really good tips - especially making sure you drink plenty of water! Lots of folks are guilty of this one. besides making you feel like you're hungry when you're not, that headache you are experiencing could be caused from not drinking enough fluids, too! (Or maybe it's just that temper tantrum you're listening to at the moment... LOL!)

I headed off to Wendy's in search of this new Pick 2 menu. I ended up choosing the BLT Cobb (I couldn't resist the blue cheese!) and a sour cream and chives baked potato:


I must have had the biggest baked potato in history, because by the time I was done with it, I didn't have enough room for my salad! I took it home and had it for dinner. It was pretty good - they automatically gave me the Avocado Ranch dressing, which I'm not fond of so DH saved it for his lunch the next day (to dip tomatoes in) and I ended up using Honey Mustard instead. I know, I'm probably like the only person in America who hates ranch dressing. I was pretty surprised at the generous amount of blue cheese on the salad too. I expected it to be like a crumble's worth. lol
