Mid October Random Promos, Sales, & Contests

Here's some random news, sales, and contests that have landed in my email box over the last week or so, and rather than fill up your readers/inbox, I thought I'd condense them all into this one post. Maybe they'll save you some money, maybe you'll win something, or maybe I'm just helping you spend money you shouldn't be. LOL :)

I love being crafty - I just wish I had more time for it these days. :( Anyways, I know I talk a lot about the Dinosaur Train kids show on here because we love it (it's Henson!) - so when I spotted this homemade Buddy costume tutorial, I thought maybe someone else would be interested?

We have so many costumes here because I buy them at 90% clearance/thrift stores, but then again, we don't have any dinosaur ones. Hmmm... maybe I will, but I'll make it big for growing into/playtime. We're either going out in a witch costume, or if it's extra cold, I have a back up fleece bat costume from Old Navy. We're just doing the business trick or treat downtown here... we're really the only ones in neighborhood who pass out candy sadly. :(

Are you a LEGO family? Want to participate in a LEGO challenge for the chance to win up to $500 in Walmart giftcards? All you have to do, is build a LEGO modular home, and then snap a picture to enter! For lots more information, to download the entry form, and of course, the all important rules - click here. (I'm guessing my DH is going to pull out the Legos now, there goes my table!)

Zappos is actually carrying Halloween costumes for kids and adults? Who knew?! I remember when they only sold shoes and socks, lol. At any rate, shipping is free to and from - and, they are returnable, so if you have a weather change/you change your mind, it's no big deal. (And at least you don't have to dig through a messy rack looking for the right size?)

...I seriously cannot wait for Halloween clearance! :) And on to an important holiday:

Save The Children, in the spirit of giving, has a few special promotions going on. If you are looking for a special gift with meaning, this is a super idea! If you purchase a goat, they will automatically make it two goats! Yes, I said goat. No, a goat won't land on someone's doorstep... wait, well, sort of. You see these goats will end up being donated for a struggling family in drought-affected areas a much needed source of food and protein ich dairy products and a valuable source of income. Other areas of our beautiful planet are not as fortunate as we are, and we can help. There are also other "gifts" you can choose, such as giving a soccer ball for kids to play with, and educating a girl - where your gift will provide vitals such as books, education materials and teacher training to help a girl attend – and stay – in school for an entire year. Since you can donate in someone else's name, you can tailor the "gift" around something that person believes in. (If these don't interest you, can I send my vote for the Stock a Library choice?)

Want to win a grand prize trip of one of three exciting eco-vacations: a Hawaiian tour, spa resort getaway in Tofino, Canada or a visit to an organic farm in Oregon's Willamette Valley thanks to Nature’s Path? It's super easy - all you have to do is whip out your camera and take a picture of your 3PMmmm moment, where you enjoy that afternoon snack, then upload it to Nature's Path's page on Facebook. (You'll have to fan/like them to do so though) For more information on the rules and stuff, and to enter - head on over to their page on Facebook. The contest ends November 14th, so you have time to enter! Good luck!

If you live in Georgia, the Georgia Aquarium is transforming into Georgia A-Scary-Um from October 29th through the 31th. Kids 12 and under in costume receive free admission when accompanied by a paid adult or annual pass member.

Get 15% off one item on Barnes & Noble through October 2th, 2010 using promo code B3Y3A7L.
