Review & Giveaway: Carmex Healing Cream & Lotion

The folks over at Carmex sent over a killer Skin Care set in a great little beauty travel bag. Included in it was two of their new products, the Carmex Healing Cream and the Carmex Healing Lotion.


It's Fall, and that means the weather is starting to do a number on my skin. when these products arrived, I had just started having some dry, itchy skin patches on of all the places, my wrists! I'm guessing maybe it has something to do with my laptop keyboard, but at any rate, it was looking pretty ugly. Who wants to have dry skin on areas where everyone can see them when you go out? (or dry patches in general!) Plus, add into the cleaning, doing dishes... I hate to say it, but boy I've been feeling like I have ugly hands and arms lately.


About two weeks ago, I started using the Carmex Healing Cream on my hands and arms. The cream comes in a 4 ounce tube that's easy to apply from. I used it about 2-3 times a day. It was immediately absorbed into my skin - so I'm thinking I really needed to use it - and it wasn't greasy feeling at all. It definitely made my skin feel soft and smooth after applying it, and it helped with the itchiness. Now the smell... it definitely smells a bit medicated. It's not overwhelming, but it smells a bit like the medicated lip balm they sell. It didn't bother me, but I know some people prefer completely unscented.

Happily, all of Carmex's products are not tested on animals, so when this tube is gone, I'll definitely be replacing it with more!


The Carmex Healing Lotion I used once or twice a day on my legs and feet. (OK, let me admit I totally would beg my DH to rub it on my feet each night!) This one comes in a 5.5 ounce tube, and being a lotion, it's a little thinner than the cream was when applying it. It definitely helped keep my skin soft, and my feet were thanking me for using it. It also has a similar scent to the Healing Cream, so keep this in mind if you avoid scented products. I went back and forth between whether I would prefer this lotion in a pump or with the tube... and I finally decided that the tube was less annoying than unclogging the pump every few days, even if it meant I might get a little more out at times.

If you are trying to choose between both and decide which one you need: if you have just normal, dry skin this winter, stick with Carmex Healing Lotion. If like me, you are having some dry, itchy patches, or your skin is flaking easily, I'd pick up the Carmex Healing Cream.

Both of these new products can be found at your local Walgreens, Walgreens.com, or Drugstore.com. The suggested retail price is $5.99.
