Review: Hefty Kitchen Bags With Unscented Odor Block

Between pets and a toddler still in diapers - oh, and my incredibly messy husband - we have a lot of stinky trash here. I recycle all I can of course, and compost somethings, but my trash can is still pretty much full each week. Now in my quest to help cut down on waste while dealing with that stinky trash, one of the things I have learned is that it's much better to purchase the quality trash bags, than the dollar store/ off brand kinds. It may not seem budget savvy, but it really is: even though the cost per bag of the cheaper trash bags was of course better, I found myself not only taking out the trash more often because it smelled - but also having to double bag loads because they would invariably rip thanks to them being much thinner. The last thing I want to do is re-mop my floor because a trash bag leaked on the way out to the outdoor trash can! I ended up coming even cost wise using better trash bags, than buying the cheaper ones.

Hefty has some nifty trash bags: Hefty Kitchen Bags with Unscented Odor Block technology. They sent on over a little care package with coupons and such, and a package of these trash bags. While these are available in different sizes, I received a 22 count package of the 13 gallon tall kitchen size. This is the size I usually buy, so it was perfect!

While my nose hasn't been working too great the last week and a half thanks to my germies, my DH assured me when the package arrived that he couldn't smell a thing, so it's definitely unscented. They felt sturdy to the touch, which is important to me. As lousy as I have been feeling, I wasn't kidding up there about not wanting to mop more!

So I threw the trash bag into the frying pan, literally. Normally I tend to go through around 3 trash bags a week in my kitchen. (we add in the trash from the bathroom and other rooms via smaller trash cans just before we take out a bag) They aren't always full, but they end up smelling super icky, so I break down and take it out. This isn't good on my pocketbook - nor the environment, but my anti-germ and bad smells self can't take it. :( We had lots of good stuff to toss away in the trash - smelly raw chicken cuttings, litter, bathroom trash, hamburger grease from the inside grill - it went in there.

I was surprised when I realized that yesterday, I made it an entire week with just ONE bag in my kitchen! I still needed a second bag's worth before we put the trash can on the street for this AM, because it was time for a complete dump of the litter boxes, plus we had the other trash cans around the house - but still. I know my nose hasn't been the greatest, but I can still smell rank, trust me. lol They may have been order, but not enough that it needed to be taken out - and it held strong too when I went to take it out. There was already some litter in it, so it was pretty heavy. I'm pretty pleased with them, and I'll definitely buy these again.

If you'd like to give Hefty Kitchen Bags with Unscented Odor Block technology, or any of the other Hefty brand trash bags a try, head on over to Facebook, where you can fan/like Hefty's page on Facebook, and you'll be able to print a coupon to save you $1.00 off your next purchase!

I received a sample, coupons, and gift card to try out this product. All opinions are my own, and not that of Hefty.

I usually buy Hefty, but sometimes I'll see a cheaper brand that I decide to give a try and I ALWAYS regret it. There is nothing worse than a garbage bag breaking on your kitchen floor!
Have a great day :)
