Except the one we saw had more black on it. After a few seconds of enjoying pointing it out, I remembered the folklore of the wooly Caterpillar - that too much black meant a rough winter. Yes, you guessed it - this one had more black.
Phish phoeey. I remember it always being pretty much on par, so I'm guessing this little guy was a sign from above that I had better get my rear end in gear on the wood situation - which yes, I am STILL procrastinating on, even though it was 35 degrees overnight. Bad me. (We have wood, just not enough to make it all winter, of course) I'll just blame this rotten virus which is still attacking my system.
How's your winterizing going? Outside of the wood, we're down to me just finishing up cleaning up my container garden, and the last raking of the leaves. I love having the fireplace on in the evening - you just can't beat wood heat! It's so toasty to stand near it.

I haven't seen one of those in years. As a kid I used to see them all the time. I didn't know about the folklore of the stripes. Interesting! Hope this winter isn't as bad as the last one.

Those were all over the place n Vermont - I haven't seen one forever. I hope you feel all better soon :)
Never seen one so thanks for sharing! My apartment gets too hot during winter to the point I have to have the fan on and a window open to be able to sleep! Hope you feel better soon.
My son was just saying yesterday that he hadn't seen any of these this year here in Connecticut. The subject came up because we were talking about how many acorns there were this year (I have NEVER seen so many of them in our driveway as this fall), another sign that it is going to be a bad winter. My son wanted to confirm it by checking the Woolly Bear stripes.
