Let The Holiday Insanity Begin!

We spent the day zipping from store to store on the hunt for deals so we don't have to step out next week, and then cleaning around the house since the weather is supposed to be kind of icky. I'm up to 3 turkeys in the deep freezer for throughout the year so I am happy with that. I took serious advantage of the General Mills cereal deal at Albertsons - if you bought 10, they came down to $1.99 each, and I used 5 $1.00 off 2 boxes coupons. DH is pretty excited because they are all boxes with the codes for the free movie tickets! Normally I stick to not wanting to pay more than $1 for a box after all the deals, but $1.49 for the cereal and half of a movie ticket (It takes two codes for one free ticket) isn't a bad deal right now. We were starting to run low anyways - it's been awhile since I stocked up on cereal.

I stepped into the Dollar Tree and I have to say I was pretty pleasantly surprised at how much STUFF they are stocking for the holidays. I found the big packages of Chex Mix, Vlassic Pickles, Hormel Pepperoni - and for those who you who shun Dollar Tree because there's nothing organic, guess what? I found cans of Muir Gen tomatoes, which even with the $1 off coupon at the grocery still comes out cheaper at DT, and one pound packages of organic flax seeds too! I probably missed lots of other good stuff, but it was really just a quick run for tissues.

And Safeway is a good stop this week for anyone who loves Tillamook cheese - the two 2 lb baby loafs of every flavor except the Extra Sharp are just $3.99, no limit! The dates are good on all the packages I saw for at least six months out, so if you have the space in your fridge, it's definitely a stock up worthy deal! (I did the happy dance - I bought 7 loafs at $3.99, plus a turkey at 29 cents a pound, and came out with just over $32. That's killer for us!

Have you started defrosting your turkey yet? I started to scrub down the fridge and then remembered it always ends up making a CSI worthy mess in mine, so I'll just wait. My oven is cleaned and ready to go though!

By the way, if you are brave enough to face the Black Friday insanity and need a new slow cooker, WalMart will have a really good programable one for just $9!

Wow! I don't really need a slow cooker, but a programmable one for 9? I may just have to go get that, lol. I always stock up on Turkeys, too. I better get out and get it soon, though!
Have a fantastic Thanksgiving!
