Review & Giveaway: Carmex Moisture Plus Tints

As a member of the Carmex Blog Squad, Carmex sent me over some of their new Carmex Moisture Plus Ultra Hydrating Lip Balms. I received the Sheer Pink Tint and the Sheer Peach Tint.


Long time readers will know I am a lip gloss junkie. I kind of have to be, because my lips get rather dry thanks to my asthma. 24 hours without something on my lips means they end up cracked and icky, and who wants to look like that? Ew! The Carmex Moisture Plus Tints has Vitamin E, Shea butter, and Aloe for moisturizing protection. They also contain a sunscreen with SPF 15, so your lips can be protected while you're playing outside. If you didn't know, winter is the worst time for sunburned lips, especially if you live in a snowy area. When the sun hits the snow, it bounces right back off it, and you're at risk for more sun exposure. Be honest: how many people wear sunscreen when they are playing in the snow?

I like the new Carmex Moisture Plus Tints because the container they come in look a lot more, department store make up style, and more grown up friendly. They come in a slender, silvery tube that doesn't scream chapped lips. The slanted tip makes it easy to apply, and the color is very, very faint. (depending on how heavy you apply it, I suppose) I honestly didn't notice much of a difference between the Peach and the Pink on me, but it might depend on your skin tone and the natural color of your lips. The tint is also available in clear, so if you want to use it under a lipstick, or if any hint of color is not your thing - hey, I totally understand - you can still try out this product.

Did you know that while our first reflex to our lips feeling dry is to lick them, this actually makes them worse? One way you can help combat dry lips is to keep your body properly hydrated by drinking plenty of water - at least 8 glasses a day - and of course, using a protectant of choice on your lips, like Carmex. If the air in your home is feeling very dry, consider placing a humidifier in the bedrooms to help out.

As a heads up, these new Carmex Moisture Plus Tints are currently only available at Walgreens and Walgreens.com, with a suggested retail price of $2.99 each. (Hopefully they will be available elsewhere in the future?)
