My family has talked more about natural brands, and I have tried a competing natural toothpaste brand in the past. I wasn't impressed. To be honest, while I have always had a favorable opinion of Tom's of Maine - they are known after all, for not testing on animals, something I do care about - I had just written them off as just not being effective for me. I drink a lot of caffeine, so I usually tend to stick to toothpastes with whitening effects to kind of combat it.
The new Wicked Fresh! natural toothpaste is a Cool Peppermint flavor. (It's also available in Spearmint Ice.) Mint flavored toothpaste and I don't always get along - it makes me nauseous - so I was prepared for the gag reflex. I actually didn't have to worry - I made it through brushing my teeth just fine. The feel in my mouth was pleasant - it did feel fresh, and it actually felt the same way even after drinking some of my beloved Diet Dr. Pepper. I've been using it a few days now, and I am happy with it.
Now Tom's of Maine Wicked Fresh! Toothpaste doesn't use alcohol or artificial ingredients, and the company does share every ingredient, and most importantly WHY it's in the product, as well as even the source on their Tom's of Maine website. They do say there are no artificial colors, flavors, fragrance, or preservatives.
However, it is a fluoride toothpaste, and I know many people are anti-fluoride. They do give you a choice of fluoride free in some of their other toothpastes, so perhaps that will be the case with the Wicked Fresh! I didn't expect it to be an ingredient in this one, honestly. At least their products are still paraben free. I really love that they donate 10% of their pre-tax profits to charitable organizations supporting the environment, human needs, the arts, and education.
Tom's of Maine Wicked Fresh! Toothpaste retails for about $4.19 for a 5.2 ounce tube. You can find it most local grocery stores - you don't have to shop Whole Foods to find it - as well as Target and Walmart. If you'd like to give it a try before you buy it, Walmart currently has free samples of it available on their website, but it's while supplies last.
I received samples to try out and share my opinion about because I am a BzzAgent. If you'd like to become one too - you don't have to be a Blogger, check out their website to sign up.
