Book Review: An Amish Love by Beth Wiseman, Kathleen Fuller, and Kelly Long

I recently received a copy of the book, An Amish Love by Beth Wiseman, Kathleen Fuller, and Kelly Long, to review.

An Amish Love actually contains three short "novellas" - one written by each author. Each story as the main title suggests, is set in Amish country with Amish characters.

A Marriage of the Heart is written by Kelly Long. This one is the story of Abigail Kauffman who tells a tall tale and is "forced" to marry a bewildered Joseph Lambert, who was just brought back into the community that day. Apparently Joseph was the lesser of evils, as she was trying to get away from her father and the empty home she lived in after her mother died... and Abigail has quite the stubborn streak. You can't help but feel sorry for Joseph, who at moments seems to be caught between two worlds, his Amish life, and things he learned and felt during the time he was away from the community. (I would have loved this story to have been expanded into a full length book!)

What The Heart Sees is written by Kathleen Fuller. This is the story of Ellie, who loses her sight in a tragic accident five years prior that had also taken the life of her best friend Caroline. Caroline's "boyfriend" ran away from the community, unable to cope. Upon his return, his father is furious with him, and when he goes to meet his sister, he ends up smacking into Ellie and nearly knocking her out cold. (Ouch!) Will sparks fly? You'll have to pick up the book to find out! ;)

Healing Hearts, the last of the stories, is written by Beth Wiseman. This one is about Levina and Naaman Lapp, who start the story off coming back together after Naaman left 11 months ago for a barn raising - but really, it was more of an excuse to get away from his wife. It seems Naaman was suffering from a combo of midlife crisis and empty nest syndrome. ;) Even though he is back, they need to fix their relationship and trust in God to help them mend the broken parts. It doesn't help that a sheriff is on the hunt for Naaman, and nasty rumors spread around town quickly.

If you enjoy Amish Romance books, you'll probably enjoy this new title. The three stories, while they have the common theme, are all different enough that they can appeal to different walks of life - and age ranges. Niftily, it also contains several recipes mentioned throughout the stories. It also contains a reading group guide.

An Amish Love by Beth Wiseman, Kathleen Fuller, and Kelly Long is a paperback Christian Romance Fiction book published by Thomas Nelson. It contains 391 pages. The suggested retail price is $14.99, but Amazon has it for $9.41 as of this posting.

I received a copy of this book in order to read it and share my opinions. No other compensation was given, and all opinions are my own, and not that of the publisher or authors.

Thank you for sharing! I finished reading A Plain & Simple Christmas by Amy Clipston and I always enjoy Amish stories. I will definitively added this title in my "to get" notebook!
