Meredith Levande is an educator and songwriter who has nearly a decade of experience working with preschool aged children. She created Monkey Monkey Music (Isn't that a fun name?) as a continuously evolving project, and believes that celebrations can be educational, and education should be fun. (I can't agree more with that last part!) Four of the videos included on this DVD were broadcast on Comcast's Kidz Bop Preschool on Demand Channel over the Summer, and DVD itself has won a NAPPA Honors Award for 2010.

Monkey Monkey Music: The Videos with Meredith Levande contains 15 music videos just for kids. The songs have a bouncy, happy tone to them that make kids want to dance along. The songs actually come from Meredith's first album, Monkey Monkey Music with Meredith Levande. (She has a second album out now called What Are the Odds?. As a mom, the videos kind of reminded me of some of the short videos featured over on Sesame Street as a kid - it has that same learning yet fun vibe for the preschool crowd going on. The DVD itself is short, just 36 minutes long, so it's not too long that it can drive you insane, but just long enough for kids to enjoy. Most of the songs themselves are around the two minute mark.
The DVD also has a nifty optional lyric captions setting, so you can see the lyrics as you are singing along - great for kids that are learning to read too. (Even though it's not really, we are affectionately calling it karaoke mode over here lol)
Check out the video for "Jump High":

As you can see, it does really encourage kids to move around! We've enjoyed viewing it several times here.
Monkey Monkey Music: The Videos with Meredith Levande is available now on Meredith's website, and Amazon too. It has a suggested retail price of $19.99. This DVD is best for the ages 2 to 4 crowd - 5 and up may be really bored after one viewing with it.

Chinatown! I just know a little boy who would love it!
Thanks for the opportunity and have a wonderful Christmas!
Our little Ryland is Bananas for Music and since he is our little "Monkey Child" this CD would give him so much happiness! I would think that "China Town" will really light up his little eyes, so that would be my choice but I just know that he will enjoy the others too!
