Isabella Water was founded by Nick Ogden on the principle that everyone deserves clean water. Did you know that throughout the world, one out of every eight people doesn't have access to clean drinking water? And many that do, have limited access. Here in the US, we take it for granted that we can just turn on our faucets and have virtually an unlimited supply of fresh, clean water. (well, almost, since some of us have pretty ugly tap water.)
Isabella Water bottles are only available online and sell for $22 - $10 of which is automatically allocated to help fund a well to provide clean water in Africa or Asia, two areas that are in desperate need of them. It averages about $20 per person to build a well project, so your purchase can really help. The stainless steel bottles are available in two colors - aqua blue and white, and they are BPA free, 100% recyclable (where facilities exist, of course), and they are made without toxins. They hold 750 ml, and they are a very sleek design - they say they will fit into most cupholders, but the cupholders in our car are so weird, they barely fit a small sippie. lol For those of you who also like to drink your water ice cold, these bottles have a slightly wider mouth that you can fit most ice cubes through.
You can toss these in the top dishwasher rack if you need to disinfect them, but be aware repeated trips will cause the paint to fade. I recommend a solution of baking soda and hot water if you are started to smell any odors - that's what we do with all our bottles. When not in use, I keep the lids off so the air can circulate inside.
On top of helping build the well with your purchase, you'll be helping to keep those pesky plastic bottles of water out of the landfill too. Even if you do send them off to be recycled - more than half still end up in the trash - it still takes precious energy and yes, water too for them to be recycled. Having five or six bottles filled and ready to go in the fridge can eliminate the need for bottled water for most folks. (Plus, having them already filled helps in case you have no water due to a water main break or frozen pipes!)
Trivia: Isabella Water's name is actually the name of the beach founder Nick Ogden grew up on.
