My family was recently sent the LeapFrog: Learning Set - Volume 2 to review. The set contains three DVDs, plus one musical CD: Math Adventure To The Moon, Word Caper, and Math Circus, as well as the Learning Songs Music CD.

Math Adventure To The Moon teaches basic math skills such as counting and sorting, alongside basic patterns, The total running time of this DVD is 36 minutes long. (See my complete review of this individual title here.)
Word Caper teaches valuable beginning reading skills, such as word building, that pesky silent E, and letter blends. It's not a substitute for hands on teaching of learning to read of course, but this one can help pave the way. I recommend sitting down and watching this title with your child (really, you should do this with all LeapFrog titles) and "help" your child learn too - hey, you might even learn something you'd forgotten all about yourself! (As a heads up, it appears this DVD was previously released under a different title: TALKING WORDS FACTORY 2: CODE WORD CAPER!) The total running time of this title is 36 minutes long.
Math Circus is another title that helps teach basic math skills. While Math Adventure To The Moon had an outer space theme, Math Circus is under the big top. This one helps teach number recognition, as well as strengthening counting skills, and introducing some basic addition and subtraction. For the younger ones (2-3), you may want to turn the disc off at the addition/subtraction section so as not to confuse them. This one also has a shorter running time of 35 minutes. Be sure to watch Math Adventure To The Moon before watching this one.
Learning Songs Music CD is filled with great catchy tunes to listen to in the car such as "ABC", "Let's Rhyme" and "Days of the Week". If some of the titles seem familiar to you, yep, you're right - all the songs have been featured on different LeapFrog DVD titles.
While the series is marketed and geared towards ages 3 through 6, it's more appropriate for 2-4 year olds - 5 and 6 year olds should already know what's going on as far as the learning skills - but if they are struggling in school, the catchy songs may help. All of the titles featured in this set are also available separately, so if you already own one or two titles included, no need to panic. :)
By the way, when you link your LeapFrog toys on the LeapFrog Learning Path, you can get a free LeapFrog Tag Ozzie and Mack storybook, now through March 1st, 2011. (If you're unfamiliar with Learning Path, it is a free online tool on LeapFrog's website that lets you kind of follow along with your child's learning progress with LeapFrog products. It basically shows you the skills and activities your child is learning while playing with each toy, and see what products and skill building ideas you might want to purchase/borrow next. It's all tailored to your child's age, too.)
LeapFrog: Learning Set - Volume 2 is available now with a suggested retail price of $29.98, though Amazon has it for just $19.49 as of this posting - a seriously great deal when you think each title normally runs about $9.99 on sale. If you're interested in purchasing other items from LeapFrog's website, right now they have free shipping on orders over $50, and you can use promo code SAVE20 now through December 5th, 2010 to save 20% off your order!

I received a copy of this set to share my opinions of it. No other compensation was given, and all opinions are my own and not that of LeapFog's. I'm just a big fan of their products!
