Mrs. McVeigh's Manners: The Mrs. McVeigh's Magnificent Manners Show (whew! How's that for a tongue twister?) was created by manners expert Elise McVeigh, who has been teaching manners classes to children since 2003. It's very important to me that my daughter learns her manners and how to behave properly in certain scenarios - in fact, I think this should almost be a requirement at preschools. (and perhaps high schoolers as well, the way the world is going) There is no excuse for not using "please" and "thank you".
In the DVD, Mrs McVeigh teams up with her off beat "assistant" Professor Maynard (pronounced "mannered" - get it? Snort, giggle, giggle). Professor Maynard does everything the wrong way, and Mrs. McVeigh has to show him the right way. It's corny humor, and it catches kids attention while getting them to learn their manners. The DVD runs a total of 30 minutes long. The lessons include meeting and greeting, restaurant manners, table manners, how to set a table, how to write a thank you note, and more! I totally give it two thumbs up - it's not a substitute for hands on learning with their parents, of course, but as an introduction to manners (and a refresher before important occasions!) it's just perfect!
