BKW Seasonings is a family owned business that got it's origins back in the 1960's when they wanted to create a unique buffalo-style wing. They opened a small take-out restaurant near the University of Tennessee campus called Big Kahuna Wings back in 1997, and those wings were voted BEST WINGS in Knoxville at the annual "War of the Wings."
Big Kahuna Original Gourmet Blend is an all-purpose blend originally created for those famous wings and for fried chicken, but can be used on so many other things. I decided to give it a whirl on some french fries:
Yes, those are frozen fries out of a bag. You caught me! lol I was out of potatoes, and that giant bag was still lurking in the freezer. Here they are again:
I turned them into yummy Chili Cheese fries! I had actually made some a few days earlier using the first half of the bag of fries, and they were sadly lacking. Maybe it's just that we're not used to frozen fries anymore, but they were super bland, even with the chili on them. This second batch with the Big Kahuna Original Gourmet Blend was a HUGE difference and I was sad we had finished off the bag of fries, because I actually wanted more! lol I think I will try it out on some steak next.
A 3.5 oz container of Big Kahuna Original Gourmet Blend retails for $4.59, or if you're like me and use spices and seasonings frequently in your meal preparation, you can snag a 5 pound container too. BKW Seasonings are also available in other blends, like Cajun, Fire, and a Light All-Purpose seasoning. You can purchase their products online, or if you live in the Southeast, you can snag a bottle at places like Kroger, Winn Dixie, and Harris Teeter, among other places. (There's a package you can purchase online from their website that has seven different blends for just $29.95, so it makes a great gift, especially for someone who likes to BBQ a lot!) If you are on Facebook, you can head on over and "like" BKW Seasonings on Facebook for new product information and deals.
Win it! Thanks to BKW Seasonings, one lucky reader will win a bottle of the Big Kahuna Original Gourmet Blend, just like I tried! To enter, head on over to the recipe page on their website, and come back and tell us which recipe you would like to try first if you won.
