Celebrity Parenting FAIL

With all the doom and gloom right now, I have to admit I got a serious giggle out of this headline this morning:

Mummy... what are these? Suri Cruise picks out some very inappropriate sweeties

Parenting fail? Yes, of course! Let's be honest though - how many times have you been in the store and heard "MOMMY! MOMMY! Can I have this?" and you look down and sort of see what's in your child's hand, and say alright - without really seeing what toy is their hand? Or you walk into a candy store and tell them they can have whatever piece of candy they want?

It's easy to be distracted. I am sure Katie Holmes had several photographers following her around at the moment, she quickly told her daughter she could have whatever she wanted, paid for it quickly and there it was - hello, media sensation!

It's just a box of candy with a cartoon graphic on it, not a sex toy (though, I am sure if I google it, I'll find someone's blog out there where they are talking about their child finding their v*brator, or something! Cringe!). I'm betting her daughter just saw the box colors, knew it was candy, and that's all she cared about. Totally inappropriate? You betcha! Does it happen? Yes. Half the folks going crazy over it probably let their kids stand in line at the grocery store next to magazines with nearly naked women on them too - is that appropriate either?

What got me is what time all of this occurred. Why is that kid out at that hour? And look how wide awake she is--I'm guessing she is up until all hours routinely. Poor kid.
