As more and more folks get a smartphone, they'll be able to read it at home, and your lost pet will get home quicker - especially since they might not have to wait until a vet clinic opens on a Monday morning to get their microchip read. The really neat part is you can add medications, care & feeding, emergency contact information, veterinarian contact, licensing and rabies numbers, latest vaccinations, and anything else you can think of - even pictures!
Now through May 31st, you can snag the small or medium tags from Pet Hub for just $1.05 plus $1.95 shipping (and tax, for my fellow WA residents, alas). After that date, the price goes up to $12.95. Even if you don't have a smartphone yourself, at that price, maybe it's worth picking one up for later down the road if you have a younger pet? I'm going to pick up a couple for our Corgis.
