Man Vs Food Vs... Torture?

DH has been on a Man Vs Food Netflix kick the last few weeks. I've now decided that we should force any enemy to fast for three days, and then watch that show.

It's torture.

It wouldn't be so bad if he watched it around dinner time, but he's always putting it on late at night when the munchies can strike with a vengeance. Some of the dishes are a little out there, and there's no way on this earth I'd ever participate in any of the eating challenges (180 oysters, anyone?) but then they show beauties like the 11-lb. Carnivore Pizza Challenge at Big Pie in the Sky:

Which makes me whimper. That pizza would feed me for a month, but oh my gosh.

I watch the episodes in amazement - especially when Adam visits the kitchens and we get a behind the scenes look at some of the dishes being made. I think it's hysterical that pancakes are being flipped with pizza peels! How do they come up with some of these ideas?

And then I think, hello, gluttony. But really, who eats these things every day? Sure, I love to watch these shows, and I'd visit some of these places to try dishes featured (not the eating challenges! lol). Who wouldn't? A five pound hamburger is my DH's dream come true - not that I think he could finish it. I'm sure it's many guys' dream come true, too.

It drives me crazy when I read stories on major newsites about The Best 10... (insert food of choice) and people are complaining about America being fat, that food is too fattening, etc, and dishes should be banned.

I say this over and over again, but the problem isn't necessarily what a person is eating, it's the lack of exercise, and how much you're eating. Sure, I get a kick out of the B3 burrito:

but if we ate it - and it would be all of us as that puppy is two feet long - and took it home as leftovers(!) - my rear end would be hoofing it for some serious foot time along with a healthy dose of Wii Fit.

So do you watch Man Vs Food? What dish would you try?

I've watched it a few times. In fact, they came to HI once for a Mac Daddy Challenge pancake and we actually ordered it--our family of 4--and could barely make a dent in it!

I can't watch that show--the sheer amount of food is just gross to me. Now my husband and son LOVE that show for some reason. Must be a "guy" thing.

We watch it sometimes. There is another one we watch also. They do have some crazy shows out there.
