Mmmmm - Toast!

Folks, step away from the toaster. Seriously. The toaster limits your kitchen imagination! Walk over to your oven and check out your broiler instead. You can make thicker cuts of bread for toast, and place lots of different toppings instead of being limited to the same old bread, butter, and jam. It doesn't mean you can't still use those toppings, of course, but you can have so much more fun creating different combinations!

I love freshly baked bread. Granted, I have the time to bake my own bread, but perhaps you don't. Check out the bakery section of your favorite grocery store, and you'll see lots of different breads to make your creation. Don't forget that toast doesn't have to be only for breakfast - it's a great addition to dinner, too.

For my toast creation you'll see below, I used a basic white bread. I made this one a round loaf, so the pieces are a little longer than perhaps the bread you might be using.

You'll need:

bread
I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter!
bacon
white Cheddar cheese, shredded

Since this is an entry to the I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter! Toast Ambassador contest, I'm using I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter!. Simply spread this onto the bread.

Next, you'll be adding some chopped (cooked) bacon and sprinkling it on the bread. I use about 1/2-1 slice of bacon per slice of toast, depending on how big the slice of bread is. This gives it the taste of bacon, without a lot of extra calories. Finish with a sprinkling of shredded white Cheddar (or your choice) cheese, and stick under the broiler for a few minutes:

Enjoy!

Note that I was invited to participate in the I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter! Toast Ambassador contest, and this blog post is my entry.

It looks delicious! And we love our broiler (my MIL introduced me to bread toasted in the oven 30 years ago and I never forgot its delicious taste! It cannot be beated!)
Blessings,
