Elderly woman has to remove diaper for pat-down
A 95 year old terrorist with a bomb in their diaper? Really? Do we now live in a police state, or what? How embarrassing for that old lady, who should be treated with the utmost respect at that age - what has happened to respect for our elders? How embarrassing for us, as a nation, that we allow this to happen. What are have our soliders been dying for since this great nation was established? Freedom, right? Why are we letting it being taken from us, and this lady?
Because terrorists are old ladies, six year olds, and breastfeeding babies? Come on! How many terrorists has the TSA actually stopped exactly again? Why are we paying for this with our tax money? You want proper security done right, then it should be our military doing it.
I wonder what America's brave founders would say if they saw the way our country was today.

I don't even want to click on that link. You've said enough to make me cringe. What gets me is that shortly after the guy uttered the "Don't touch my junk" line I heard an interview on the radio with a guy who's an expert in airline security. He said the show-all x-rays are NOT completely reliable. In fact, they're so unreliable that the Israeli airports won't use them, and they're the experts in the field of airport security. So we all have to put up with the humiliation, but don't get any extra security in return.
I'd hate to see this happen to my mother. There'd be 'ell to pay.
What a crazy world we live in. I had to click on the link. Really, a 95 year old with Leukemia in a wheel chair. And the six year old child that was pat down. That is just crazy.
I read that story yesterday, I think it's deplorable. The TSA is certifiably insane.
As I recall, the TSA's record for catching terrorists through these methods is ZERO. All the terrorists who've been stopped so far were caught by the vigilance of fellow passengers. I read somewhere once that the person who developed the Israeli airport security scheme was asked about our methods in an interview and called them "expensive and useless".
I've heard a couple different versions of the story about the underwear bomber, he was either put through a backscatter scanner that didn't detect anything or walked through security without being screened. On the one hand, incompetence, on the other? TREASON. Fortunately with the amount of explosives the guy had on him the only person he could have hurt was himself. That's what I've heard anyway.
I saw this thing on PBS not long ago about the Freedom Riders on buses back in the 60s, personally I think something like that needs to be done for air travel now. Not sure how it would work though. If the court system wasn't so backward (i.e. the recent Supreme Court decision denying Walmart employees class action status) I'd say the airlines should be suing TSA for interfering with their business practices. I've heard of tons of people refusing to fly now because they don't want their 4th Amendment rights violated. Honestly, I don't know why the airlines aren't at least speaking out more in support of their customers. They've gotta be losing business from this.
The results of a poll were released a while back saying that 80% of respondents were OK with the new screening procedures. I think they must have reported those results backwards! The majority of the reactions I've seen are that people hate the idea of having to go through that. We're going on our yearly cruise in November and are NOT flying this year. Boston to Florida by train is about 30 hours but I think it's worth it to avoid being put through that.
What's next, mothers being asked to take their infants' diapers off?
