Random Thoughts Tuesday - Bears And Trees

ACK! I just realized my DH's birthday is less than two weeks away! Oops - I better get into planning mode. I know there's a coupon in the Entertainment Book for a free movie admission at Regal on your birthday, so I know I will send him there in the evening. Super 8 comes out soon, and I know he's been wanting to watch that one, but I don't - so that part works out perfectly. ;)

So yesterday we headed over to the dog park down the road - and when we got there, there was a lot of commotion. Turns out there was a bear in the woods! I'm not really sure why all the news channels thought a bear was THAT newsworthy (must be a slow day?) but it certainly hindered the crew trying to catch the bear so he'd stay away from the schools. Here's the thing - you live in the NW - there's BEARS. And coyotes. And a million other animals that you need to keep your eyes peeled for. It's not a huge deal. Now, if you told me it was a rhinoceros, I'd have been a little more worried. And no, I'm not saying bears aren't dangerous (they can be) but geesh.

Seriously, if we'd stop chopping down their environment for no reason, we'd probably never see them. I've lost track of the amount of cleared areas that have nothing being built on them lately. It drives me nuts - especially because then you hear people complaining about the air quality. Well, DUH - you keep cutting down old growth that clears the air. You know, nature's air purifiers? *bangs head against wall* Is it really worth it?

What kind of a world do we live in when you are arrested for feeding homeless people? I understand that it ended up being more than just a few people, but c'mon - they are homeless! Someone is trying to make a difference!

Zombies take over Henry County highway Don't panic - yet - they are just filming scenes for The Walking Dead. Which, can October get here a little faster?! Between the seaon 2 premiere, ZomBCon, and oh yeah, Halloween - I'm getting a little impatient here.

Using Zombie Pitchmen Doesn't Take Braiiiiiiiinssss Just read the response. LOL It's true though, what the CDC recommended is kind of woeful for any disaster. I know they try to recommend 3 days, but it really should be 7. (for disaster preparedness, not for zombie epidemics. For zombies, I recommend at least a year's worth of supplies. Oh, and a really fortified house. lol)

Really, Orlando? What a stupid ordinance. At least the cops waited until everyone had food before making the arrests. I'll bet they felt like complete a-holes.
The last link was sheer awesome, BTW.
Happy RTT!

Unreal. How sad to get arrested for trying to make a difference...

Getting arrested for doing good...Geez, no wonder people don't or won't help others anymore. I've never seen a real bear, so I'd probably poo poo if I saw one in my park.

"Arrest papers state that Cross, Markeson and McHenry helped feed 40 people Wednesday night. The ordinance applies to feedings of more than 25 people."
Oh Storm, I almost missed this post!
Thank you for telling it like it is!
Imagine this, feeding your fellow men is now to be done with an ordinance!
Ours is becoming a sorry world!
Blessings as always,
