Review: Wendy's Berry Almond Chicken Salad

One of the best part about Summer is all the berries coming into season, so I was more than happy to try out Wendy's new Berry Almond Chicken Salad when they asked if I was interested.

Wendy's Berry Almond Chicken Salad is a seasonal salad only offered when the berries are at the peak of freshness, so you won't see this salad in the middle of winter at your local Wendy's. The berries are California grown strawberries and blueberries, both of which are excellent sources of vitamin C. On the full size entree salad, there is one full serving of fruit. It comes with sliced almonds, chicken, a bit of Asiago cheese, and fat-free raspberry vinaigrette salad dressing.

We headed off to our local Wendy's to pick one up. Alas, when we got there, they were out of the entree size, so we ended up with two half size portions - actually, that part kind of worked well, because both DH and I were able to have one with our dinner. The only problem was that they gave us two packets of dressing, but only one of the sliced almonds to add - so my picture below is sans almonds because DH was already half way through his salad by the time I started fixing mine up and figured out there was only one packet:

As you can see, it looks pretty fresh. Apparently, they make the salads at each local Wendy's every morning. It tasted great and I enjoyed it, as did DH. I loved the combination of the fresh fruit and raspberry vinaigrette dressing together. It is a great little salad for Summer. I would have liked a little bit more fruit on the salad - there was only one whole sliced strawberry, I would have liked to have had two or three, plus the blueberries. (I'm fruit greedy this time of year LOL)

The price was a little high to me though for a fast food meal that doesn't even come with a drink - the entree portion at our local Wendy's was $6.49 plus tax, so it came to $7.05. If you're not watching your budget, that may not bother you - but I can't even think of the last time I spent $9 (including a drink) for a fast food meal. Actually, I don't think it's ever happened. Granted, this is a "premium" salad, and it is really nice to have another healthy choice on a fast food menu for folks who are on the go.

I received a gift card from Wendy's to try out the new salad. All opinions are my own.

Looks tasty! I actually made my own version for lunch (without the chicken).
