DVD Review: Beyblade Metal Fusion Volume Four

My family and I recently received a copy of the new DVD Beyblade Metal Fusion Volume Four to review.

If you have boys in the 5-9 range, you probably know all about the Beyblade series. Beyblade is a Japanese animated series that began at the beginning of the decade, and the newest reincarnation of it is Beyblade Metal Fusion. Throughout the show, Ginga, a young boy, travels the country in search of strong Beybladers - kids who use highly powerful spinning tops called "Beyblades" which are enchanted with magical spirits. They must fight evil to become named the #1 Beyblader of all time!

Volume Four contains seven episodes: "The Fearsome Libra", "The Road To The Battle Bladers", "The Beautiful Eagle", "The Sniper, Capricorn", "Tsubasa Flies Into The Dark", "Intruders In The Challenge Match!" and "Dark Gasher's Big Crabby-Crabby Operation" (lol at that title!) There are no special features included on this disc.

Watching the DVD, I was ever so thankful that I have a girl, and not a boy, because I was totally LOST watching this DVD with DH. I'm guessing to really follow along, you need to have started at the beginning with Beyblade Metal Fusion Volume One and possibly even the original Beyblade. Obviously like other Japanese cartoons, there is a big toy tie-in with a bunch of toys that go along with the episodes - right after this DVD arrived, we spotted a lady at Target who bought a bunch for her two young boys who was with her. (I asked and they said they LOVED this show, so I'll take that as a two thumbs up endorsement from the right age range) There is a chunk of cartoon violence that I noticed when watching it, but I suppose it's not any worse than the other shows geared for this age range (boys 5-9).

The DVD also includes a free code to unlock special features and battle online.

Beyblade Metal Fusion Volume Four will be released this coming Tuesday, August 23rd, 2011. Fullscreen format, it is not rated (see above), with a total running time of 154 minutes long. The suggested retail price is $14.97, but Amazon has it available for $11.99 as of this posting. (Netflix users: this title is not currently available, but the series is available for instant streaming)

I received a copy of this DVD in order to view and share my thoughts on it. All opinions are my own.
