DVD Review: Dora's Halloween Parade

My family and I recently received a copy of the new animated Nickelodeon DVD Dora's Halloween Parade to review.

Halloween is two months away - are you ready to start carving Jack 'O Lanterns and hang cobwebs in the window? Dora is! This spooky themed release from the popular preschool show features Dora the Explorer, Boots, and all their friends, ready to help get you in the mood for trick or treat! The four episode DVD includes: "Halloween Parade", "Boo!", "The Backpack Parade" and "Dora, La Musico".

In "Halloween Parade", everyone has their costumes picked out and ready to go, except for Little Monster. (I was scratching my head, isn't Little Monster already a Halloween costume, when you think about it? lol) Dora - who's dressed as a bumblebee - will help Little Monster find a costume so he can march in the Halloween Parade too. "Boo!" is the episode that shows how Dora and Boots meet Little Monster and help bring him home before midnight. (Really, this episode should have been shown BEFORE "Halloween Parade", but I guess that messes up their title?) The remaining two episodes aren't really Halloween related, but they both center around parades, so it sort of ties in.

Once again, Nickelodeon has kind of broke my heart, because there are no special features included. Sniff, sniff. Well, unless you include the "count the pumpkins" on the DVD cover question on the DVD case. (Pffft)

Let me tell you, my daughter was ALL OVER this one. lol

Dora's Halloween Parade is available now at your favorite place to purchase DVD's. It is full screen format and not rated - safe for all ages (geared more towards the 2-4 crowd). The total running time is 97 minutes long. the suggested retail price is $16.99, but Amazon has it available for $13.99 as of this posting. (Netflix users: this title is not currently available, but you can stream other Dora episodes instantly.)

I received a copy of this DVD in order to view it and share my thoughts on it. All opinions are my own.
