Random Thoughts Tuesday - Can I Run Away?

As if my week couldn't possibly get any better (/sarcasm), on top of an unexpected bill, DH just messaged me that they have an MSRA outbreak at work. Oh, joy.

Did I mention we have no running water during the weekdays still thanks to them fixing pipes? You know this beautiful painting:

That is me. I am grabbing to every last bit of patience I can find.

Actually, I would have no problem with the lack of water if I was already on our land. In a way, it's a good reminder that I have been taking for granted again constant running water. I keep a 5 gallon container ready to do every day things like washing veggies plus a bucket for flushing - and it really wouldn't be such a big deal if I had everything set up the way I want to (ie: wonder washer, bigger line to dry clothes on, outdoor kitchen, etc)

I know, half of you are thinking I'm nuts. I am perfectly happy doing things the old fashioned way. Plus, there was not any overweight housewives 120 years ago - doing everything by hand and from scratch can be a good thing. ;)

I have been scouring the thrift stores the last two weeks in search of several extra bread pans so I can do extra at once. I have two large rectangle pans plus the semi-mini pans, so that usually covers when I want to do a single batch. If I could get a few extra, then I could do a double batch for when things are super busy - except, I've done 4 thrifting trips, and there isn't even a single one! It's almost funny - I hope that means more folks are baking!

...someone asked me why they should bake when they can get loaves of bread for 88 cents at the store. Oh well, you win some battles, you lose some battles.

Too Much TV May Take Years Off Your Life.... tell us something we don't know. lol I wonder how much $$$ was pumped into that worthless study?

Oh, phooey. No Zombies Allowed at TVA Meeting. Take away all the fun! lol

And I'm not overly thrilled with the way World War Z is starting to shape up. I knew anything with Brad Pitt attached would probably be turned into a disaster. Sigh!

We may have to make a road trip.... Zombie Burger opening events are popping up soon

I have noticed in your previous posts a tendency to go back to the old ways. Unusual for most young people these days when we think everything is available with a touch of a button yet I applaud you heartily!
I find myself often thinking of my Granny who was into 'organics' and 'green living'. Funny is it not that we should reverse to the 'old but true'?
I like the originality of your posts and thoughts provoking moments!
Thank you for sharing and blessings to your little family!

There's a big difference between home made bread and the 88 cent stuff.

Have a great Tuesday.

Sometimes it's good to do stuff the old-fashioned way; I find myself being more thankful. Happy RTT.

I don't think you're crazy. I like reading about your back to basics lifestyle. I had to check out Wonder Washer on google. I don't think I could quite go that far, unless I had to. I did, however, get a spin dryer. Good idea that, unfortunately, doesn't work as well as it should. I still use it, in spite of its flaws, then I line dry. No comparing 88 cent bread to homemade. Have you tried a bread machine? A very worthwhile investment. Five minutes to throw everything in the baking pan, then push a button and walk away. Well, a peek at it while it's mixing, but that's it. Thrift shop? As for zombies, maybe you'll get a chuckle out of http://justjingle.blogspot.com/2011/08/zombie-dolls-and-my-blogiversary.html
