Review: Dannon Activia Selects French & Greek Yogurt

I recently had the chance to try new Dannon Activia Selects French Yogurt and Greek Yogurt.

Activia Selects French Yogurt had the fruit bites on the bottom. It was strawberry, which you know me and strawberries - I could eat them all day! Like all other Activia yogurts, it is supposed to help regulate your digestive system. Both DH and I noticed that the fruit had a much less "processed" taste to it - it tasted a little more fresh than some of fruit bits in other yogurts. It was also much more creamy too. We really liked this one!

The Activia Selects Greek Yogurt is the more traditional thick and creamy yogurt like you see in Greece. It too was a strawberry flavor. If you like the Greek style yogurts, I think you'll definitely enjoy this one as well. A 6 ounce container was 190 calories though, so if you are watching calories, beware. This is supposed to help regulate your digestive system too just like the others.

If I had to choose my favorite style of the two, I think the French Yogurt won. (DH agrees!) We both really liked the fruit bites. (I still enjoyed the Greek a lot too!)

If you'd like to give either of these yogurts a try, check out my post from the other day where you can snag a printable coupon for your purchase. You can also print a coupon to save $1.00 off 3 via the Dannon website.

Full disclosure as always: I received samples of these products in order to try them out and share my thoughts on them. All opinions are my own.

Well I tried the Greek style Activia and it was horrible. It was neither smoothe or creamy it had a gritty consistency and tasted awful, I didn't finish it. I thought it might have been expired so I checked the date and it was not. I am a fan of all other Greek yogurts just not this one.

Anonymous: I wonder if it was accidentally frozen at the grocery store and then it thawed out? We had a couple of yogurts from Fiber One a few weeks ago that had a funny consistency too so we thought that might have happened - and I agree, it tasted it awful!

All of a sudden the Walmart stores in Colorado Springs are no longer stocking the French Selects yogurt. I was wondering if this is just another one of Walmarts methods to sell other brands, cause they have never been able to keep enough French Selects in stock or if there is a problem with that particular brand itself? Got any ideas how to find out? Walmart managers barely know where they work much less what is or is not in their stores.mi

So when I saw the Activia packaging and then saw the downward arrow, I thought, ooh, gross, something that you eat that is designed to make you crap. How can someone in their right mind actually eat a product that has the end goal of crapping? Last time I checked, when you eat, you crap. Not if, but when. So am I to assume that with the downward arrow on Activia it will happen much sooner? How exactly is this a benefit? Seriously? If I need to crap sooner, I can just jump up and down or go jogging. Or drink some coffee. I dont see coffee with a downward arrow. I can just see the marketing...drink coffee so you can unload quicker in the morning. Right.

Why isnt life simpler, like yogurt just marketed as yogurt rather than this probiotic nonsense being equated with enhanced bowel movements? If someone is backed up, couldnt they just get an enema and leave the yogurt alone, as a pleasant food rather than something associated with colon blow?

It doesn't make you crap faster; it makes you crap better. if you're constantly constipated or suffering from irritable bowel syndrome, this will help to regulate your problems and not only will you start going to the bathroom at more regular intervals, the diarrhea will stop. I know this from experience, lol.
