Review & Giveaway: Green & Black’s Classic Collection

I admit it: I'm a chocolate fiend. I can't go into Trader Joes without a block of the good stuff ending up in my cart. I have hidden stashes throughout my kitchen - oh, ok, and the bedroom - so it can't all get eaten at once. (And yes, I've completely forgotten about stashes before only to find them six months later lol)

Awhile back, DH and I watched a program talking about the difference between organically/sustainably grown chocolate vs the mass market chocolates, and I was rather startled. I really had NO clue. Now that I do, I'm trying to pay more attention to the chocolate I'm buying - and it works out, because you really can tell the difference in taste between some of these brands!


Green & Black's Organic Chocolate was started back in 1991 when Craig Sams, founder of Whole Earth – the UK's pioneering organic food company – was sent a sample of dark 70% chocolate made from organic cocoa beans. he and his wife, Josephine Fairley, set out to make organic chocolate to the world. These days, Green & Black's has everything from the familiar chocolate bars to a baking bar to hot chocolate. (Drooling yet? lol)

This coming September, Green’s & Black’s will be releasing the Green & Black’s Classic Collection. It contains 12 miniature bars of dark and milk chocolate with six flavors that include Milk, Toffee, Almond, Dark 70%, Ginger and Cherry. Like all of their other products, the Classic Collection uses high-quality organic and fair trade certified ingredients. It will retail for a suggested retail price of $9.99, and will be available at major retailers nationwide.


I was able to try the Green’s & Black’s Classic Collection, and I pulled it out when my family was visiting. My parents love chocolate just as much as I do (it runs in the family!). The Dark 70% disappeared faster than the speed of light, and the Toffee was a huge hit too. My favorite that I tried was the Cherry - there were even bits of cherry in the chocolate! I look forward to it being available in September so I can restock my habit - and I think this time I might hide it well so I don't have to share! LOL
