DVD Review: Care Bears: Share Bear Shines Movie

My family and I recently received a copy of the new DVD, Care Bears: Share Bear Shines Movie to review.

Care Bears: Share Bear Shines Movie is a full length movie with the CGI animated Care Bears. Share Bear meets a Twinklet named Gleamer, and they are on a mission to help Princess Starglo get her confidence back when no one believes in her anymore - not even the other bears! Together Share Bear and Gleamer travel to Glitter City - a magical place where the Twinklets are trained by Princess Starglo - and find that without her confidence, she's turning out the stars all over the night sky! Can Share Bear and Gleamer help the world believe in Princess Starglo again before the sky stays dark forever? Do you believe in her?

Ah, this movie lets me reminiscence my childhood with one of my favorite cartoon series ever, even if I am still a little so-so on the CGI animation compared to the old school cartoons I remember. I was all excited to sit down with my daughter and watch this one together. Share Bear Shines teaches kids about self esteem. As the outer sleeve is all glittery, it really is going to cater more to girls than boys, although the storyline could appeal to both. I'd peg the age range to be 2-6, maybe a little older depending on your child's interests. As usual, there are no questionable parts in the movie.

There is a couple of special features included on this DVD - a fun little interactive game called "Unlock The Shine" that uses your DVD remote, and a little Trailer Gallery with some other releases coming soon or already here.

Care Bears: Share Bear Shines Movie will be released this Tuesday, September 6th, 2011. Widescreen format, it is not rated (see above) and safe for all ages. The total running time is 70 minutes long. The suggested retail price is $14.98, but Amazon has it available on pre-order for $11.99 as of this posting. (Netflix users: this title is not available for instant streaming, but you can add it to your DVD queue)

I received a copy of this DVD in order to view it and share my thoughts on it. All opinions are my own.
