DVD Review: VeggieTales: Bob Lends A Helping Hand

My family and I recently received a copy of the new animated DVD VeggieTales: Bob Lends A Helping Hand to review.

When Little Joe's mom breaks her big left toe, Bob the Tomato decides to help. Larry and Joe decide to help too - "superhero" help, but it's not exactly what Bob had in mind. (Can you blame him? lol) Larry and Joe end up learning that you don't need to be a superhero to help others - helping others is what makes YOU a superhero! (Larry looks strange with the hands in the show, doesn't he? lol)

As usual, each Veggie Tales episode revolves around an important lesson to learn - and in this one, kids learn the right ways to help others, and how great it feels when you help. This another really important lesson for kids to learn! (and some adults, too.) I love VeggieTales as a parent because kids don't really realize at first that they are learning important values - they are too busy giggling at all the silly antics these characters do! (How can one not laugh at Larry? lol)

The DVD also contains two classic VeggieTales shows: "Tomato Sawyer and Huckleberry Larry's Big River Rescue" which is a funny little play on the Mark Twain stories of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn, and "Lyle the Kindly Viking, which stars Junior the Asparagus as a Viking who makes a stand against other plundering, greedy Vikings.

There are also some bonus features included: a Singalong to "Bob Lends A Helping Hand", the "Bob Lends A Helping Hand" interactive book, "How to Draw Tom and Huck", and a little "Boiling River Family Activity".

VeggieTales: Bob Lends A Helping Hand is available now on DVD at your favorite Christian retailer and Big Idea. It won't be available at big box style stores and online at stores like Amazon until October 18th, 2011. The total running time is 70 minutes long. It's not rated, but geared towards the preschool and young school age set. The suggested retail price is $12.99.

I received a copy of this DVD in order to view it and share my thoughts on it. All opinions are my own.
