Review: Bio+Green Crystals

I don't exactly make it a secret that I hate plastic and excess packaging drives me CRAZY. The less that walks through my door - and then into my recycling or trash bin - the better. The problem with plastic is that it's EVERYWHERE. Have you seen a cleaning product with a glass bottle recently? No? Me either. Sigh!

So I've tried to reduce the amount of cleaning products I have to buy, by purchasing all in one products, concentrated formulas, refillable bottles, and even making my own. Annoyingly, I still see more plastic that I want to. That's why I was excited to learn about Bio+Green Crystals.


Bio+Green Crystals are biodegradable organic cleaning products that come in a variety of different cleaners so you can safely - and effectively - clean different surfaces in your home. Unlike most of the products you'll come across at the store, Bio+Green Crystals have nearly zero waste. Each non toxic cleaner comes in a tiny sachet that you simply drop into a spray bottle of water, shake well, and it makes up to 32 ounces of cleaner.

In a perfect world, everything you see there would either disintegrate (the cleaner) or be recyclable. Unfortunately, in our backwards area (cough), the plastic covering isn't recyclable here, but it still leaves me with a lot less waste. Bio+Green Crystals sent on over the Bathroom Cleaner and the Child Safe Multi-Surface & Toy Cleaner.

The Bio+Green Crystals Bathroom Cleaner has no phosphates, no sodium lauryl sulfate, and it has a pleasant faint scent as it's made with natural lavender oil. It's meant to be tough on mineral deposits and soap scum. I have to tell you, since they worked on our water lines a few weeks ago, our water has been brutal. There has been white stuff floating around in it and I can see the deposit lines being left on things like our bathtub and even the pet bowls. We really need to scrub now, so anything that makes that job a little more easier, while being safe for my home, gets a thumbs up from me.

The Bio+Green Crystals Child Safe Multi-Surface & Toy Cleaner is safe for most surfaces your kids - and pets - can get in contact with, from toys to counters to appliances. I felt safe using it to scrub down counters I would be rolling out dough on later on. I didn't have to worry that the cleaning product I was using could harm my lungs and irritate my asthma. Or worry if one of the dog's licked something after I had just cleaned it. Or even worry that the cleaning product I was using might cause cancer for my daughter.

One Bio+Green Crystals packet retails for around $5, a little high next to some cleaners, and yet cheaper than others. I know when you're counting pennies price can be everything, but toss in less waste and cleaner indoor air your family is breathing, and it evens out a bit.
