Locked In is a short story and part one of the Zombie Bedtime Stories. Halley, a rookie paramedic, is out on a run for a homeless gentleman she remembers helping out in high school. Apparently, he has gone crazy and is attacking people in the local park. When the man bites her, she is shocked, and her partner Frank cleans her up and sends her home. She doesn't feel very well though, and has no clue what's wrong. Is it stress? Or worse?
If you feel that zombies might be able to think and have feelings like humans do (after all, they were human once!), I think you'll enjoy this short story. It's a fast pace and you'll almost be sad it's over so quickly! (Fear not, for there is more in the series!) The story has the right amount of gore, but it gives it a different perspective than the usual survivor who knows to look for weapons kind of zombie story. I look forward to reading more from this author in the future.
