They're Coming To Get You Barbara!

Jump in the time machine with me folks, because way back on October 1st, 1968, George A. Romero’s Night of the Living Dead was released - and it's definitely one of the greatest undead movies ever to be made.

I can't think of a better way to kick off Zombie Month around here, than talking about this classic film. Here's a way to watch the entire film, just in case you have never seen this one before:

George Romero seems to be known as the father of the modern zombie movies - which is ironic since he didn't set out to make a "zombie" movie. It's interesting to look back at the zombies shown in this film - in the beginning, they seem to have some speed in their legs - they certainly give Barbara a run for her money when she's in the car - and then the rest of the film, they are slow as molasses.

I'll take a lumbering zombie over a rage zombie any day - how about you? Do you remember the first time you saw a zombie movie?

1. First film to have a black actor in a lead, non-ethnic roll.
2. The first horror film starring a black actor.
3. The best film ever made by an independent filmmaker.

This film has no equal and is one of the ten best films ever made, IMO.
