CD Review & Giveaway: Paul Anka: Sounds of December

I recently received a copy of Paul Anka's new holiday themed CD Songs Of December to review.

Did you know Paul Anka was a teen idol, back in the day? I found that giggle worthy. ;) He really was a superstar though, with lots of #1 hits. My generation isn't as familiar with him, and those that are younger than me probably have no clue who he is - but those like my mother adore this man and his music! Songs Of December is Mr. Anka's first holiday release in over 50 years.

Here is the complete track listing:

1. "Let It Snow"
2. "Christmas Song"
3. "I'll Be Home For Christmas"
4. "Winter Wonderland"
5. "It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year"
6. "White Christmas"
7. "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas"
8. "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town"
9. "Blue Christmas"
10. "Silver Bells"
11. "Silent Night/A Cradle In Bethlehem"

I don't need my holiday songs to be full of bells ringing and kids laughing, and tons of background noises. The ones I enjoy the most are simple - a good voice, with a limited amount of musical instruments. For this reason, I truly enjoyed Mr. Anka's take on these Christmas classics. My favorite song definitely was "I'll Be Home For Christmas", as it's one of my favorite Christmas songs ever. I also enjoyed "Have Yourself A Merry Christmas". Oh, and "Silver Bells"... and OK, who am I kidding? I loved them all! This CD will be in regular rotation in my home for the holidays!

Win it! Thanks to Decca Records, one lucky reader is going to win a copy of Paul Anka CD Songs Of December. To enter, tell us which song you look forward to hearing the most.

OMG! Paul Anka! He was a teen heartthrob when I was a teen. lol.
Then I saw him a few years ago at the Strawberry Festival in Plant City, FL.
I think Silver Bells would be the one I would most like to hear.
