Review & Giveaway: Tropical Traditions Organic Raw Honey

Have you ever looked at the ingredients lists in some of the honeys you can purchase at the grocery stores and dollar stores? They're not not even half honey - and not even organic! A lot of it is from China too! My mother in law has been after me for several years to use honey to help the soreness in my throat from my allergies and asthma, and I've balked because of this.

Tropical Traditions carries Certified Organic Canadian Raw Honey. Their honey comes from the frontier areas of Canada, and is only harvested during a 6-week period in the summer. Unlike other honeys, Tropical Traditions Organic Raw Honey has not been subjected to the heat of processing, only warmed enough to flow. This means the pollen stays in - the way honey was meant to be.

Right away, you can tell the biggest difference with Tropical Traditions Organic Raw Honey vs what you find in your typical grocery store - the way it looks. If you pick up a jar of the grocery stuff, you can see it start to drip. Flip the lid, and you just pour it into your drink or baking dish, right? That doesn't work with Tropical Traditions Organic Raw Honey! It's crystallized, and you can turn that jar upside down and it will not drip! You need a spoon (or a spatula) to get this raw honey into your drink or baking dish.

I had a packet of honey mixture in the back of the fridge, so I decided to torture DH. I blindfolded him, and had him taste a spoonful of the packet and then a spoonful of the Tropical Traditions Organic Raw Honey. He knew immediately which one was which - and he said the difference was amazing. I agree! Once you try organic honey, you'll never want to try anything else.

I used Tropical Traditions Organic Raw Honey alone to soothe my throat, and added a bit to tea. I also used it when I made a pork roast the other day - I rubbed a bit on the roast, then added a couple of thin slices of oranges on top before placing it into my slow cooker. It gave it just the perfect bit of sweetness.

Check out the Tropical Traditions recipe section for other great ways to use it!

A 17.6 oz. glass jar of Tropical Traditions Organic Raw Honey retails for $19.99, but as of this posting is on sale for $12.99.

Win it! One lucky reader will win a jar of Tropical Traditions Organic Raw Honey! To enter, head on over to Tropical Traditions website, and tell me another one of their products that you want to try.
