Book Review: How To Con Your Kid By David Borgenicht and James Grace

I recently received a copy of the new book, How To Con Your Kid: Simple Scams For Mealtime, Bedtime, Bathtime - Anytime! by David Borgenicht and James Grace, to review.

Listed as "the book your children don't want you to read", How To Con Your Kid is a revised and updated version, with tips and techniques to bribe and scam your child into doing what you want them to.

Admit it... we all do it. From buying washable crayons and paint to get our kids to take a bath - they think they are having fun *wink wink* to bribing them with an ice cream after church or a doctor's visit.... we do it daily. Sometimes hourly. Raising kids - especially toddlers - is psychological warfare, folks. (Five minutes ago: help mommy clean up the living room so daddy doesn't think we didn't do anything today! Or this morning: We have to brush your hair so it will grow like Rapunzel's! And before lunch: Netflix is "down" (cough, cough) so let's read a book instead!)

Even though I've learned to bribe and yes - scam - the way through the day, I found How To Con Your Kid full of great ideas - from games to play to ways to handle delicate situations like sharing and behaving in public. It's a must read for parents of toddlers to teens, and it's a quick read, too.

How To Con Your Kid: Simple Scams For Mealtime, Bedtime, Bathtime - Anytime! by David Borgenicht and James Grace is a hardcover book published by Quirk Books. It is 160 pages long. The suggested cover price is $14.95, but Amazon has it available for $11.21 as of this posting. It is also available as an e-book for the Kindle and other e-readers.

I received a copy of this book in order to read it and share my thoughts on it. All opinions are my own, and not that of the author(s) or publisher.

Oh, I think I'm guilty of this too--from stacking the deck in "Candyland" to telling my kids that "money can't buy happiness" when we were at McDonald's and they wanted those stupid Happy Meals.
