Book Review: Another Piece Of My Heart By Jane Green
I recently received a copy of the new book Another Piece of My Heart by Jane Green to review.
Andi finally found the perfect man after searching for him for years at the age of 37 via Match.com. Meet Ethan - divorced with two young daughters, the perfect doting father and great husband. Andi always wanted to be a mother, and dives into being a step-mom enthusiastically - even though Emily, the oldest teenage daughter hates her guts and feels she is taking away her daddy. As the relationship gets worse and worse, Andi struggles with everything she has ever known about love and family - especially as she misses her mother, who passed away from cancer.
When I first started reading the book, Andi's character reminded me so much of a friend back home who just couldn't wait to be a mother and kept searching for the right guy. Through dud after dud, she finally found her right guy - via Match.com! - so it was rather ironic! Now Emily, there was a spoiled brat. I understand not wanting to share your Daddy with anyone else, and teenage hormones to boot - but good grief, she was rotten. The story takes a different turn as - slight spoiler alert - Emily learns a little bit more about being a Mom.
For all the tension between Andi and Emily, it made the book seem more human, because I swear, Ethan seemed like this city metro man, for a lack of a way to put it. He felt too perfect at times. Seriously, I love my DH - he's cute and cuddly (LOL), a great daddy - but he's also, weeeeell, a little lazy when it comes to picking up after himself, and we butt heads frequently. The slightly mentioned mom is an unfit parent, and I'll say that the family situation kind of sums up the way a lot of families are these days. If you're looking for a book to zone out to, and you're not too picky, Another Piece of My Heart is a good add to your library reading list. I read through it fairly quickly myself.
Another Piece of My Heart by Jane Green is a hardcover fiction book published by St. Martin's Press. It is 400 pages long. The suggested cover price is $25.99, but Amazon has it available for $16.45 as of this posting. It is also available in paperback and in e-book for the Kindle and other e-readers.
I received a copy of this book in order to read it and share my thoughts on it. All opinions are my own, and not that of the author(s) or publisher.
