I'll be honest - at first I looked at the pretty lady on the cover and went "oh... it looks like another self help book by someone with a personal trainer, chef, and nanny. I bet she's never sat there and wondered what to make for dinner while praying a check didn't bounce in the middle of a chaotic living room with a laughing kid and barking dogs...." because seriously, that's the way I feel with a lot of these books lately. Except... Tara Brooke came from a broken household, worked full time throughout high school to scrape the money together to move to LA, and put her butt into gear to make her dream of being a model. No one handed it to her on a silver platter. I admired her drive, having started to work myself when I was 14 because I wanted to get out of dodge, too.
From money management to balanced eating to finding Mr. Right, there's a step by step approach, showing readers that you can do anything you want in life, if you put yourself to it. Of course, no one ever said it would be easy - but that's life. Put on your big girl panties, brush the bad stuff off, and get cracking on getting where you want to be - because there's no pause button in life, ladies. Time keeps on ticking while you're floundering around.
If you're looking for a self help book that covers just about everything to help point someone younger in the right direction - such as college age - Beautiful Ambition might be the one. The author references several entertainment names, such as Angelina Jolie and Oprah Winfrey, and how they have made it, and it could help younger folks identify with the advice being given, alongside her tips and tricks.
