Book Review: Snatch That Cat By Larry Buttram

I recently received a copy of the childrens' book Snatch That Cat by Larry Buttram and illustrated by Paul Richardson to review.

Susie Bipp has everything she ever wanted - from dolls to a wild boar. One day, she sets her sights on Mrs. Payne's black and white cat, Simon. When she can't buy Simon from Mrs. Payne, she comes up with the bright idea that she can "catnap" Simon instead. Except... her attempts at catching Simon don't always work out liked planned at first. Then she succeeds and gets him home to play... but Simon has other ideas in store - including trashing Susie's room. Will Susie learn her lesson that you can't always have everything you want, especially when it - or in this case he - belongs to someone else?

A good lesson to learn, Snatch That Cat teaches it with a bit of humor and some really fun illustrations. Hey, how many cats do you know that have a mountain lion for a mother and an alligator for a father? ;) We thought the story was great and my daughter loved Simon the cat and the chaos he causes at the end. OK, maybe it was even funnier to us because our neighbor down the road has a cat that we keep joking we're going to snatch and bring into our little black cat brigade. (We're kidding... I swear!)

This book is geared more towards the 4-7 range, it is a little longer with some bigger words and plenty of rhymes. You can visit the author's website here.

Snatch That Cat by Larry Buttram and illustrated by Paul Richardson is a children's book published by New Virginia Publications. You can download the e-book for the Kindle and other e-readers via Amazon.com.

I received a copy of this book in order to read it and share my thoughts on it. All opinions are my own, and not that of the author(s) or publisher.
