DVD Review: The Garfield Show: Summer Adventures

My family and I recently received a copy of the new DVD The Garfield Show: Summer Adventures to review.

Summer is just around the corner, and America's favorite chubby orange tabby, Garfield, is ready to enjoy the fun too! The newest TV incarnation based on this popular comic strip series is done in CGI animation, and features Garfield, Odie, Jon, and all his friends.

The DVD includes six new episodes: "Perfect Pizza", "Lucky Charm", "Extreme Housebreaking", "Mailman Blues", "It's A Cheese World", and "Super Me". In "Lucky Charm", Garfield and his friends look for a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow, while in "Perfect Pizza", they try to save their favorite pizza place after a new pizza shop opens up and runs the owner out of business. "It's A Cheese World" has the gang take a trip to the Cheese World theme park, where yes, everything is made of cheese!

The DVD also contains a bonus episode called "Fame Fatale", where Garfield trades places with Sir Leo and becomes a famous cat, only to find out it's not all he thought it would be - a lot more work! (And we know how Garfield hates work! lol)

This collection is another fun set of episodes from The Garfield Show, even if all of them aren't quite summer themed. I always loved Garfield as a kid, so it's a blast to sit down and watch them with my mija - even if Garfield's a little differently animated thanks to computers!

The Garfield Show: Summer Adventures will be released this Tuesday, May 29th, 2012. Widescreen format, it is not rated, and safe for all ages. The total running time is 74 minutes long. The suggested retail price is $14.93, but Amazon has it available on pre-order for $13.44 as of this posting.

I received a copy of this DVD in order to view it and share my thoughts on it. All opinions are my own.
