Giveaway: New Cheerios Club Size Boxes
I like to buy whatever I can in bulk because it cuts down on the hassle of shopping frequently. We save money on both gas and food, and I cut down on impulse buying. (OK, sort of - I never make it out of Costco without something I didn't plan on making it in my cart! lol) The only problem with buying in bulk sometimes is keeping it fresh until it's completely used. That's why I was super happy to hear that Cheerios has changed their club format from a single big box, to two smaller boxes - meaning the cereal I buy for family will be fresher longer! It also means less waste from spillage thanks to the box no longer being big and awkward. That makes it even more of a good value!
Even better? It's a little more environmentally friendly, as each club size box of Cheerios has had the amount of air in each individual bag reduced. The new containers fit 10% more cereal than before and use less packaging. The packaging material has also been reduced by over 200,000 lbs, saving 1,000 trees, taking 130 Cheerios trucks of the road, and decreasing CO2 emissions. Click here to learn more about the new packaging.
You'll find these new Cheerios boxes at club stores like Costco, Sam's Club, and BJ's.
Win it! Thanks to MyBlogSpark and Cheerios, two lucky readers are going to win two new two box Cheerios club packaging (for a total of four boxes). You don't need to shop at a club store in order to win this prize! To enter, tell us how buying in bulk helps your family - or if doesn't help at all. (I know when you are single, this is like a year's supply! lol)

I shop at Costco to save money. That's the main reason to buy in bulk. An added perk is that I don't have to think about those items for a while, so less fussing over compiling shopping lists. However, I have to be very careful about what I buy in bulk, because, as you note, the stuff can spoil or go stale before the two of us finish it. Therefore, this new packaging sounds like a good deal!
I get your emails.
I don't have stores close by that sell in bulk, so I don't purchase that way.

It definitely saves us a ton of $ on staple items like cheese! eclairre(at)Ymail(dot)com
Buying in bulk is best for pricey items like seafood. Frozen seafood lasts forever and it costs less in bulk!

The only food we buy in bulk is meat. When there is a good deal, we buy quite a bit and put it in our freezer.

Buying in bulk helps my family because we can buy pantry staples at a lower cost. We don't buy anything we wouldn't eat fast enough.

It usually helps us get better deals -- although, you do have to keep an eye on the price per ounce just to be sure. Thanks!

It helps when it's an item we eat a lot of (like cereal!) but often I get too tempted by good deals at club stores and end up buying too much stuff that we eat rarely. It's not fun to throw out a whole block of delicious cheese because it went bad!

Buying in bulk saves me a ton since I can get what I need at the lowest possible price. Plus, I don't have to make those dashes for just one thing and end up with half a cartful and $50-$100 gone.

Buying in bulk helps my family a lot, since we have a fairly large family. It definitely reduces the number of shopping trips we make and saves on gas.
I find buying bulk saves money not only in per ounce price. But, also by keeping me out of the store as often and spending money!
Buying in bulk helps our family because we save money and make fewer trips to the store. We try to stay away from perishables, because we don't want them to spoil.

It sepends on the product since there are only three persons in our family. We don't buy products in bulk if they will spoil before we use them. We buy products such as paper towels and toilet tissue in bulk. It saves money because it is cheaper buying in bulk rather then a single product. garrettsambo@aol.com
