Speaking of doctors, I was ticked off. This was my first visit since the surgery to a regular doctor, and when we called to make the appointment, I mentioned that I was in need of getting my asthma meds prescription refilled again. They said I'd have to make a separate appointment for that one, because they could only discuss one issue/symptom at a time. WT?! No wonder our health systems are so freaking screwed up! Yes, let's pay multiple visits just cause. /sarcasm. And yeah, that appointment didn't go too well. I was in tears, because I can't seem to get an answer other than "it takes awhile". Um, yeah, I understand that, but it doesn't solve what the underlying problem is!
Blech. See why I avoid doctors like the plague?
The weather has been lovely the last couple of days, so I have been trying to work in the garden a bit more. We had gotten some strawberry plants for free, but they needed to be weeded desperately. DH put them in the bin I used last year for the zucchini and raised it up for me on a tree stump so I didn't have to bend over, and that went a lot easier! I've been looking at some recycled planter ideas and contemplating how I want to plant them. I'm thinking off the ground would mean not having to fight those annoying slugs we get so much - but then again, they can't spread out. And also, there's always the possibility of plastic leaching into the soil. Decisions, decisions...
Poor DH - he came home from work yesterday and I immediately wrangled him into doing things outside. Mean ol' me! ;)
Have you ever read Watership Down? DH always looks at me like I'm insane when I go on and on about the book and movie. It was one of my favorites as a child - clearly, I love bunnies - but DH has never heard of it. I have got to find a copy for the kiddo. I know it's scary at moments, but I know I was really young when I was introduced to it. (Yes, Pippi's name, the rabbit we rescued several years ago, came from Pipkin in the book)
...is it bad I'd love to adopt a bunch of rabbits and give them names from the book? lol Before someone flips out, rabbits can be fixed - I'm not talking about being overrun with rabbits like that episode of Hoarders! (Yikes!)
Oh Oh Oh - I want to go to this! Hornady Sponsors Zombie 3-Gun Match: "Zombies in the Heartland - Pandemic 2012" How much fun would that be?! Expensive though - yowser.
This is a little cheaper: Zombie Pub Crawl Though, we did a ghost themed pub crawl out here once, and it was a disaster. The people on the crawl were there to drink, and only to drink. They didn't care at all about any of the stories being told, which was a shame. We were totally out of place there too. (That was the famous day where one of the drunk people came up to me and told me she loved my costume. Um... I wasn't wearing a costume - that was me, every day.... but whatever.) We quit halfway through it.
Speaking of drinking, Nanobrewery places zombies on the right track Hehe. Actually, you could support a small business with this one. :) No one show this to DH though, he might get ideas. He's still wanting to make mead.

That bit about only being able to talk about one issue at a time with the doctor is INSANE. What about the concept of holistic medicine, where one medical issue affects other parts of your body? Could you schedule two appointments back to back, then walk out the door after discussing issue number one, then walk back in, and sit down again? Maybe pay one dollar at a time so each dollar doesn't have to mingle with other dollars? Yes, we have a crazy health system. And a very expensive one, too.
What is it with doctors? That's why I avoid doctors like the plague, too - my sister had a similar situation where she was going in for her annual (which is covered 100% by her insurance), but because she mentioned she wanted to discuss another female thing, they billed her for that instead - which wasn't covered under her insurance because of her high deductible. And it was more expensive than the annual visit. Even though it was part of the same visit discussion. Ridiculous!
We need to think about doing something raised-garden-wise - we have so many wild rabbits that when we plant a regular garden, they think it's their own personal smorgasbord! :) There you go - you can adopt the wild rabbits from my backyard and it'd be a win/win, right?? ;)
I'm going to start a batch of mead this weekend - maybe I need to make it a zombie mead! ;)
