Review: Dr. Max Powers Advanced Scar Therapy

Having emergency surgery left me with not only a good sized collection of Frankenstein-esqe scars on my body, but also my arms were riddled with new scars from each of the spots where they drew blood or tried to get an IV in them. (My body kept rejecting them) While I am not thrilled with any of them - believe me - the ones on my arms are the ones that bother me the most. I feel like a junkie whenever I look at them. :(

So you can guess that I was super excited when the chance to review Dr. Max Powers Scar Serum Intensive Scar Therapy landed on my lap. I'd been rubbing in some coconut oil on the scars up until this point.

The Dr. Max Powers Advanced Scar Therapy was created to promote cell renewal in existing scars while rebuilding collagen. It is hypo-allergenic with no preservatives. The main ingredient of the Scar Serum is organic rose hip oil which has been proven to be effective in the regeneration of skin and provide results in the treatment of burns and scars. (Rose hips contain a rich source of omega-3 and omega-6 acids - they make a great vitamin C tea, if you didn't know this!)

To use, you simply gently rub onto your scar area three times a day for at least eight weeks. You can use it on both old scars and new. You should start to see a decrease after about a month of using it as recommended.

The Dr. Max Powers Advanced Scar Therapy has a great pump bottle to apply the serum. Well, great if you have a lot or big scars - if you are trying to work on a smaller scar, it may pump out a bit too much serum for you, so you may just want to unscrew the cap to get the exact amount you need so you aren't wasting it. For me though, it was just the right amount. It has a pleasant floral scent, and it was easy to rub the serum into my assortment of scars. It didn't irritate my skin, either. Now I am not to the one month mark yet, so I don't really see a change, but I noticed that on my biggest scar that it's making it a little more "pliable" - it doesn't feel as tough as it was starting to feel awhile back. I'm not delusional enough to think this is a magic potion that will make all evidence of my surgery go POOF! - far from it! - but anything is better than nothing when you are avoiding the mirror because you don't want to see how bad it looks. If it gives me even a mental boost, then I'd consider it already a win-win battle, trust me.

I'll update you on any changes I see over the next few months. By the way, the product is made here in the USA.

A two ounce bottle of Dr. Max Powers Advanced Scar Therapy retails for $22.99, and you can purchase it online via their website. They even have free shipping on all orders over $75!

I received a sample of the product mentioned above in order to try it out and share my thoughts on it. As all our skin is different, your results with the product may vary from mine.
