Review: Filippo Berio Extra Virgin Olive Oil

As a BzzAgent, I recently had the chance to try out Filippo Berio Extra Virgin Olive Oil.

Filippo has been around for nearly 150 years, and is steeped in the Tuscan tradition of its founder and namesake. It's a 100% natural product that is high in monounsaturated fats - the good kind - and contains no trans fat or cholesterol. Like most olive oils, it contains no sugar, salt, or gluten, making it healthy for you. (It's easy to substitute olive oil in instead of other oils - just use the same amount!)

To me, olive oils are like wines - each one can vary, depending on the olives and processed used. It also depends on the region it comes from - some olive oils may be more fruity, others a little stronger and bitter. I keep several kinds on hand depending on what I'm using the olive oils - salad dressings, cooking veggies, or even baking. I found Filippo Berio Extra Virgin Olive Oil best drizzled on veggies with a bit of herbs when cooking, as well as for cooking a bit of chicken to be added to pasta dishes. It also makes an excellent marinade base - simply mix in your choose of herbs, and coat the meat with it, allowing it to soak in for several hours before grilling or cooking.

If you'd like some recipe inspirations, be sure to check out their website, where they have quite a few ideas, like Coal Miners' Style Spaghetti. While you are there, you can also register to print a $1.00 coupon off your next purchase of Filippo Berio Extra Virgin Olive Oil!

You can purchase Filippo Berio Extra Virgin Olive Oil at your favorite grocery store.

As a BzzAgent, I received the item mentioned above in order to try it out and share my thoughts on it. All opinions are my own.
